Preserving Paradise
Inspired by the desert itself, our resort celebrates its timeless beauty and provides easy access to trails and parks. With 67 percent of our 600 acres dedicated to protected open space, we’re deeply committed to sustainable practices in all aspects of our resort.
Here are some of the ways we focus on sustainability at Black Desert Resort.

Energy Conservation
Low Voltage Power: CAT6 Ethernet cables carry only 10 volts instead of the traditional 120 volts, reducing energy waste. This is applied to lightbulbs, door locks, security cameras and other electrical components.
Heat Reduction: Lower voltage prevents excess heat generation, making light bulbs cool to the touch.
Low-Voltage POE (Power Over Ethernet): This technology delivers DC power and data through network cables, avoiding the need for additional electrical wiring and ensuring safety for connected devices.

Water Conservation
Reclaimed water is treated to an irrigation level, significantly reducing the demand on potable water supplies.
Infrastructure investments support water recycling, ensuring sustainable practices as part of our commitment to environmental stewardship.
Efficient Irrigation: Golf course irrigation is monitored and controlled for every 10 square feet, minimizing water usage by approximately 50%
Advanced Regenerative Media Filter: Used for water reuse, ensuring all water is gray water sourced directly from Gunlock Reservoir and not tied into the Washington County water system.
Low-Flow Systems: Our entire resort is built with low-flow regenerative water systems.
Water-Efficient Landscaping: Turf is used minimally, and all landscaping employs water reuse systems to ensure minimal water wastage.

Waste Management
In-house Waste Handling: We manage our own waste to minimize the burden on local waste management systems.
Compaction and Recycling: All waste is compacted to reduce landfill space and we engage in recycling and waste-to-energy programs.

Environmental Stewardship
Endangered Species: The resort hosts endangered fish species in its lakes, demonstrating responsible land stewardship.
Public Footpaths: The resort includes nearly 7 miles of footpaths for public enjoyment, preserving 300 acres of land.
