The Courts
Twenty-one courts built into an ancient lava flow, just past the oasis below the 16th tee. The same red rock that captivates golfers and PGA audiences. New game.
The Complex
Most pickleball facilities are poured onto flat ground and fenced. This one was set into a hardened lava field and terraced across two levels, so the upper courts back into black basalt and the lower complex opens toward the desert floor. Designed by Swaback Partners to sit inside the landscape rather than on top of it.
The lower courts run on cushioned surfaces with turf surrounds and a palm-lined central green — softer underfoot, slower off the paddle, built for long rallies and longer days. The upper terrace plays faster on modular tile, set directly against the lava with open sightlines north to Red Mountain and nothing between the court and the view.
Shaded pavilions with overhead heaters sit alongside the courts, so watching is as comfortable as playing. Every court is lit, and Southern Utah gives us better than three hundred days of sun — the season runs long, and the last match is never called on account of the light.
The Championship Court
At the center of the complex, the championship court sits below grade with concrete grandstands wrapped around it. Spectators look down onto play instead of through a fence. String lights carry matches into the evening, and the north sightline puts Red Mountain directly behind the far baseline.
It is the home of the Greater Zion Cup, and it was built for exactly that — finals, exhibitions, corporate championships, and the kind of match where the crowd leans in on every dink at the kitchen line.
